Dining at Disney Restaurant Review

Your Best Choice for Classic Fast Food at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Is Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

Days at the parks are busy. You want to get on all those must do attractions, you want to meet all the characters, you want to take in some of the entertainment. These full park days require an easy meal. Grabbing a quick and easy meal can be tricky with many of the restaurants at the parks being sit down, snack style or unfamiliar cuisine. So for your day at the Magic Kingdom look no further than Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for either your supper meal or your lunch meal.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is a quick-service restaurant located in Tomorrowland. It’s actually on the border between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and is also easily accessible from the courtyard in front of Cinderella’s Castle. There are several entrances to Cosmic Ray’s, making it a great choice right now when we’re all trying to keep as much distance from each other as possible. This restaurant is found in the centre of so much activity, it’s close to the Tomorrowland Speedway, Mad Tea Party, Storybook Circus. So dining here doesn’t take away any time from your day. You can step off one attraction, grab your meal, and then head right back out to the magic.

At Cosmic Ray’s you’ll find what you’d expect at a fast food restaurant: chicken nuggets, burgers, hot dogs and they all come with fries. There is also a plant based sloppy joe on the menu and a greek salad with or without chicken. With many of the other restaurants found at the Magic Kingdom serving other styles of cuisine (Mexican, Seafood, Italian) it can be nice to know you can dine here and have everyone be pleased with their choices. The menu typically carries seasonal items as well. Special drinks to mark the current holiday season, or speciality desserts that are only offered temporarily.

You can order your meal for Cosmic Ray’s ahead of time with mobile ordering. Simply log on to the MyDisneyExperience app and order the meal of your choosing. Then when you arrive at Cosmic Ray’s it will be ready and waiting for you to pick up at the mobile ordering window.

Cosmic Ray’s is such a big restaurant that they have several ordering stations. This allows for more people to get through the lines quicker, getting you to your food even faster. Just be sure to check the menu first, because not every line shows the full menu.

The grandiose size of this quick-service restaurant also creates lots of places for guests to eat. There are several levels and several areas, making it easy to spread out and keep yourself distanced from others. At one of the entrances of Cosmic Ray’s is Sonny Eclipse, performing for the crowd. This animatronic plays an out of this world instrument and tells jokes throughout his set. It’s a great source of entertainment for young kids who are waiting for other family members to finish up their meal or for their food to arrive.

I had never been a big fan of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. I found the menu uninspired, and no different than what you’d find at any quick-service place anywheres. But now that we have three kids, I realize the value in having at least one meal on the docket that will have familiar options for our littles. A meal, that although it won’t be all that nutritious, will be consumed without complaint. This and the ideal location of Cosmic Ray’s will have us returning again and again on visits to the Magic Kingdom.
