Where to grab breakfast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
With the popularity of Pandora-The World of Avatar, many guests are making sure to get to Animal Kingdom in time for rope drop. Many guests head their an hour before and take advantage of the park opening an hour early to mainstream the line to Flights of Passage. This means arriving at the park at 8am, leaving your room around 7/7:30. That is early. So give yourself some extra shut eye by having breakfast once you arrive at the Animal Kingdom. Now if you’re taking advantage of extra magic hours, not all of these eateries may be open, all of the venues located at Discovery Island will be open that hour before park open. One of the most popular places to grab breakfast is Tusker House, a buffet style character dining experience that opens at 8am and gives guests access to Africa before the general public. But whether you’re looking for a sit down meal or a quick grab and go there’s any option for you. Take a look at this list found in different areas of the park.
Discovery Island
Creature Comforts. Opens at 9am, this is your Starbucks location at Animal Kingdom. Here you’ll find all your favourite Starbucks choices, whether you’re looking for that perfect latte or breakfast sandwich they’ll be serving it here. Grab your food and coffee to go and eat it while waiting in line for your first ride of the day.
Isle of Java. Opens at 9am, in comparison to Creature Comforts, Isle of Java is not Starbucks. It’s also located on the other side of Discovery Island, so if you’re making your way to Asia to start your day or to DinoLand U.S.A. then this is the perfect spot to grab a quick breakfast. Plus they serve some pretty unique pastry here that you may want to add to your snack goal list: Elephant Ear Pastry. They also have muffins and your average pastry, if you’re not up for the Elephant Ear Pastry, and of course they serve coffee, iced coffee, cappuccino and espresso.
Rainforest Cafe. Found at the entrance of Animal Kingdom, Rainforest Cafe is a great place to grab a sit down meal before you start your day at the Animal Kingdom or stop here for a delicious and filling brunch. Don’t forget to check the drink menu before ordering coffee, you don’t want to waste your dining plan credits on coffee when you could be enjoying a mimosa or a speciality coffee. Rainforest Cafe opens at 8:30am.
Africa
Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. Open at 9am, this coffee shop and bakery is counter service with no where close by to sit. So you’re going to be ordering and then bringing this breakfast with you. It’s the perfect spot to stop if you’re beginning your day at Kilimanjaro Safari or walking the Gorilla Falls trail. The majority of the items on the menu are Dining Plan snack credits. You’ll find Danishes, Croissants, Muffins, fruit cups and yogurt. They also have a nice selection of coffees. Of the iced and hot varieties.
Mahindi. Looking for a non-traditional breakfast, stop here for some popcorn or pecans to start your day. Open at 9am, Mahindi is found at the entrance of Africa.
Tusker House. Grab one of the 1st breakfasts here and you’ll be into the rest of the Animal Kingdom before most of the guests. At this buffet you can choose between American breakfast favourites and African inspired dishes. Here diners will meet Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey Mouse, all dressed for a safari. A great place to eat and start your day calmly. Seating starts at 8am.
Asia
Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafe. Open at 9am, Yak & Yeti is a counter service restaurant that offers 6 different breakfast entrees. Including breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos and breakfast tacos. For kids there’s French Toast Sticks and Pancake and Sausage Sticks. Great use of quick-service meal credits.
Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks. This popular spot to grab drinks during the day also serves breakfast pastries and breakfast drinks. Open at 9am, this spot is the perfect place to eat before making your way to Expedition Everest.
Pandora
Pongu Pongu. This popular place to grab a drink is open at 9am. They offer a few items for breakfast, including French Toast Sticks, Sausage and Egg Biscuits and Pongu Lumpia (a pineapple cream cheese spring roll). This is the perfect place to grab breakfast while one adult rides Flight of Passage and the other adult sits and waits with the kids.
Satu’li Canteen. Maybe you had an early breakfast at your resort before arriving at the Animal Kingdom and are hungry by 10 but not in the mood for a breakfast item. Satu’li Canteen is your best choice. It opens at 10am and serves some amazing dishes. You can choose your own meat and rice and sauces. By eating here early you also beat the crowds of this popular dining destination. It’s a quick-service meal for those on the dining plan.
