What I’m Packing for this Disney Vacation
Normally packing for our Disney trips involves careful planning for the kids’ daily outfits. Selecting the perfect shirt for that character meet and greet and that special costume for their meal with the princesses. This time, I had no kids to pack for. It’s just me and the hubby heading down for our third babymoon of sorts. Although, there still was some planning involved. I want to make sure that I’ll be comfortable, allowing for room for my constantly growing baby belly, and properly dressed for our different restaurant plans. So here’s what I’ve packed for this adult-only vacation.
A good pair of sneakers is always a necessity for any Disney vacation. A good pair of sandals can also work, think Birks or Soft Mocs, but I’ve always found my feet have expanded with the heat and combine that with pregnancy, sneakers will be the better choice for me. If you’re not an avid runner or walker, your regular flat bottom sneaks aren’t going to give you the cushioning you’ll need for your full days on your feet. That’s why I stick to brands that specialize in creating comfort and support. My go-to’s are Asics, Nike, Adidas or Brooks. Head to your local specialty running store to get a custom fitting and make sure you’re in the best pair for you.
Shorts with elastic waistbands, loose shirts and sport apparel are the name of the game for this vacation. This was my standard for our last two Disney vacation while I was pregnant and they faired me well. The elastic waistband shorts helped with the comfort level for getting on and off rides. The loose shirts were the same way. I never felt uncomfortable or to warm because I didn’t have material clinging to my body. The sports apparel is extremely breathable so I always choose those for the warmer days. You don’t even have to go name brand with the sports apparel, Old Navy has some great items for a fraction of the cost.
Swimming is on the itinerary for every single day of this vacation. I chose two piece swimsuits over a one piece and always have. There are some great choices out there now that are made for more than lounging pool side. They are perfect for swimming in pools and going down waterslides (which of course I won’t be doing this vacation). Lole has some great choices as well as Lululemon. This black and white one I found at La Vie en Rose and gave it a try at our local water park and felt very supported and comfortable. Perfect for this trip.
Let’s face it, we’re going to Disney in August. From what I’ve read it rains for at least an hour every day in Florida during the month of August. So we’ll be prepared with this classic Mickey Mouse poncho that was purchased years ago during a family vacation. Of course any rain jacket will do, just make sure that it’s light.
I have packed many dressed for this Disney vacation, for a couple different reasons. One, dresses have been a standard during this pregnancy as I was trying to go as long as possible without purchasing maternity wear. Secondly, all of our dinner reservations are at Signature restaurants. Signature restaurants require you to adhere to a dress code. This dress code doesn’t require women to wear dresses but it encourages that you look your best so I’m taking advantage of that. I love wearing dresses, they’re what I feel most comfortable in, so I’ll be wearing one for each evening of our vacation.
Lastly, Body Glide. We pack this for every vacation. It’s a fantastic product that you glide on like deodorant on the different parts of your body you’ll typically experience chafing. You can also use it on places you’re likely to have blister. Several times a day we plaster our bodies with this fantastic product. You can find it at any sports goods store, check the check out counter, that’s where you’re most likely to find it.
I’ve also packed three books!!!! With no kids to keep entertained on the plane, I plan to make up for some lost time and read, read, read. Follow along on instagram as we enjoy our kid free Disney vacation. Happy Planning, Friends.
