Trip Preparation: Kid’s Clothing Out Of Season.
Our trip to Walt Disney World is fast approaching. We are nearing the 30 day mark, which means it’s time to make sure we have all the clothing we need for this trip. When we originally planned this trip we were expecting to go in September but due to Hurricane Irma we are now heading down in January. If we had gone in September we would have had two littles that still fit their summer clothes because we were coming right off the summer season. We now have two littles who have grown quite a bit, fitting between size 2 and 3 clothing and size 4 and 5. At the end of the summer I put things aside I knew would suit for the trip hoping it would still fit in a few months.
Today, I dug out all the clothing I had set aside at the end of the season. I’ve checked the average temperatures of Orlando, Fl for the weeks of our trip. The plan will be to have layers. Start with shorts, t-shirts and sweaters. With plans of taking the sweaters off later in the day. Or in the case of MacKenzie, dresses and sweaters. We will be there for 11 days and the average temperature is 70 degrees fahrenheit / 20 celsius.
I started out by putting outfits together, making sure that the shirt that fit had an appropriate bottom that fit. Once one outfit was on I’d get them to wear it for approximately five minutes. There were a couple pairs of shorts that I thought would fit Lincoln but by the end of the five minutes they were falling down. There was a romper that I thought would be too tight for M but after a bit of a trial the waistband hadn’t made an imprint so I think we’re safe to bring it. I packed 10 different outfits, wearing some of the same bottoms more than once. We’ve also tried on footwear and hats.
Why I’m doing this so far in advanced is because it is difficult to find summer attire at the beginning of winter. I wanted to give myself time to find any items I might need. Luckily, we have a lot of great hand me downs for Lincoln so I don’t need to run out and buy him a bunch of size 3 shirts. I was able to pull through items laid aside for next summer. If you find yourself in need of items that aren’t on the shelves because they’re out of season, check clearance sections of your favourite brands websites. Many of them still have the odd thing in stock. You may not get a Minnie Mouse shirt or BB-8 top for those character meetings but you’ll have something your child can wear. You can always pick up a few items when you arrive and use the washing machines at your resort before they wear them. The goal is definitely to have them comfortable for those long days at the park. Happy Planning Friends.
