Trip Preparation: Alcohol at the Magic Kingdom
For decades there was no alcohol to be found at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. None to be found at quick service restaurants. None to be found at table service restaurants. None anywhere. In 2012, Be Our Guest opens and, surprisingly, alcohol was on their dinner menu. This obviously went very well. How do we know that? When Jungle Navigation Co Ltd Skipper Canteen opened in 2016 they also included alcohol on their menu. Now all table service restaurants serve alcohol. The only quick-service restaurant serving alcohol is Be Our Guest as of yet.
Now some of you may be wondering why this piece of information is so important. Well beyond the obvious. Those purchasing the dining plan have alcoholic beverages included in their table service and quick service meals. The price for the dining plan has increased to reflect that. If you are planning on taking advantage of this additional offering than it can be disappointing to arrive at a dining experience and realize that they are not offering alcoholic beverages. It’s one thing for the guest to choose not to indulge in alcohol at a meal or all meals. It’s something different when you’re paying for the dining plan expecting to enjoy a glass of wine with your meal and find out that you can not do so.
Not all restaurants have the same alcoholic offerings. Take a look at what they have on their drink menus and make sure you’re choosing the best dining experience for you and your family.
Be Our Guest.
Be Our Guest is a quick service restaurant for breakfast and lunch. In the evening it becomes a table service restaurant. Be Our Guest gives you selection of 22 wines. 18 can be purchased by the glass. If you are more of a beer drinker, you’ll be able to choose between 7 different kinds. Be Our Guest has the largest selection of alcoholic beverages at the Magic Kingdom.
Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Cinderella’s Royal Table is a signature restaurant. It requires guests to pay ahead, and for those on the dining plan, 2 table service meal credits will be used. This restaurant, found in Cinderella’s Castle, offers sparkling wine and champagne. If you’ll be enjoying a glass or two you’ll be able to choose between four different bottles. Buying by the bottle, you’ll have five choices.
Crystal Palace
This character dining buffet now serves alcohol. They offer beer and a variety of white and red wines. They also serve a Mimosa. So before you chose from a variety of soft drinks check the drink menu first.
Diamond Horseshoe
The Diamond Horseshoe is probably our least favourite table service restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. They serve a very similar meal to Liberty Tree Tavern, the restaurant is very open creating a very loud and chaotic atmosphere. But that’s beside the point. Diamond Horseshoe serves beer (7 different kinds) and wine (also 8 choices).
Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen.
The latest addition to Magic Kingdom table service dining offers cuisine inspired by South America, Africa and Asia. Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen is found in Adventureland across from Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. Here you can choose between red and white wine, beer and sangria. There’s only two beers to choose from and the wine list is also minimal in comparison to Be Our Guest and Tony’s. But you can get these drinks during lunch hours. It’s also the only restaurant offering sangria at the Magic Kingdom. And I can tell you it’s very good, I enjoyed a glass on our visit to Jungle Navigation during our last vacation.
Liberty Tree Tavern.
Liberty Tree Tavern is a throwback to the age of Washington, Jefferson, and Burr, Sir. With menu offerings ranging from roast beef, turkey, mashed potatoes and cobblers. Similar to food being offered at Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland, Trail’s End Restaurant at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, and Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. At this Magic Kingdom restaurant the alcoholic beverages been offered consist of beer, cider, white wine, red wine and you can also have a mimosa. These drinks are offered at lunch and at dinner.
The Plaza Restaurant
A beautiful table service restaurant located at the end of Main Street U.S.A. The Plaza Restaurant is now serving alcohol in addition to their delicious all you can drink milkshake. Which if I’m being honest I may still choose the milkshake. Their drink list is not lengthy, you’ve one of each choice of wine: chardonnay, pinot noir, Sauvignon blanc, riesling, cabernet sauvignon and they offer a Sangria. There’s only four choices for beer. So if you count yourself a picky alcohol drinker than this is not your spot.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.
This Italian restaurant is found at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. Themed off of Tony’s Restaurant in Lady and the Tramp, guests can enjoy wine or beer with their meal. With eight different kinds of red and white wine and three offerings of beer there will be something that will compliment your delicious pasta dish.
As you can see, not all the Magic Kingdom restaurants that offer alcohol have the same selection. So if you’re someone who prefers cocktails then your best choice is Jungle Navigation or Liberty Tree. More of a beer drinker than Tony’s and Be Our Guest will have better options for you. Regardless, it’s nice to have the choice to enjoy a glass of wine during your meal at the Magic Kingdom. Happy Planning, Friends.
