A Detailed Review of The Plaza Restaurant at Disney’s Magic Kingdom
A restaurant that has been at the Magic Kingdom since opening day is The Plaza Restaurant. Located at the end of Main Street U.S.A., The Plaza restaurant is a small spot that offers a beautiful view of Cinderella’s Castle. The Plaza restaurant isn’t anything fancy and doesn’t seat very many guests but has a very unique experience. Many of the citizens of Main Street U.S.A. stop in throughout the day. On our visit, the Fire Chief came in and presented a couple with a gift for their wedding and then awarded a couple kids with citizens of the day, which gave them FastPasses for the whole day. You never know what will happen during your visit.
The Plaza restaurant has no lobby, you check in outside the restaurant and then you’ll be called up to the outside stand when your table is ready. The restaurant has windows lining the restaurant on one side and mirrors on the other. Iron rod chairs and tables make up the seating for the restaurant. If you can get a seat by the window, especially in the outer green area, you’ll have a beautiful view of the castle. The lighting is all blown glass. The restaurant pairs perfectly with the theme of Main Street U.S.A.
On the menu at The Plaza guests can enjoy American favourites like Grilled Reuben Sandwich, Plaza Club, Tuna Salad Sandwich, Cheeseburger, Cheese Steak Sandwich. It’s a great choice for those who want something they know and love to eat. I had the Cheese Steak when we dined here. It was delicious! My husband had the Mac and Cheese which was equally delicious. Our favourite part of this restaurant though was the all-you-can-enjoy milkshakes. I love my ice cream! So we were thrilled to see this option for our beverages. There are a couple different milkshake flavours: vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, milk chocolate, and whatever the feature is of the day.
The Plaza is one of those places where it’s important look at the menu first. This is a sit down restaurant but it’s nothing fancy. The menu items are very low cost so if you’re on the dining plan you could actually end up losing money on this meal. Which is why it’s on our list of 5 worst restaurants to go to on the dining plan. It’s a great meal for out of pocket though. I think everyone should eat here at some point. The menu choices are so easy, there’s going to be something on here for the pickiest eater. The location is ideal. Every area of the Magic Kingdom is connected to this spot so it’s a great way to end off one land before entering into another. And the setting is beautiful.
I really enjoyed our meal here. The only let down, was it was our daughter’s birthday and they gave her special dessert but there wasn’t any fanfare. I would definitely go here again, especially if we could get a table during the fireworks.
You can make reservations for every meal served here.
