RunDisney: California Races
Have you heard the news? RunDisney has cancelled all races in California, following November’s Super Heroes race. Up until the first of October there were races scheduled until next spring at Disneyland Resort. Those that had registered for these California races were given a full refund. Talk about disappointing! This also puts an end, until further notice, to the Coast to Coast Challenge. The Coast to Coast challenge had racers run a race of any distance at both the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort within the same calendar year. Racers received a special medal. You didn’t have to pay anything above and beyond your race registration. We participated in this Challenge in 2012 and frankly it was the only reason we went to Disneyland.
We had ran the Goofy Challenge in 2012 and purchased our DVC membership during that trip. Upon purchasing our Disney Vacation Club package we had a lot of points to use within the first couple years, because of when we purchased. So we decided to take advantage of the situation and jump on board the Coast to Coast Challenge. What a reminder in doing something while you have the chance. Who knows when this challenge will be available again. The same is true of so many experiences at Walt Disney World. The company is constantly changing offerings to accommodate an ever changing guest population. So don’t take for granted that something will always be there for your enjoyment. Dine at that restaurant you’ve always wanted to try, ride that ride even if it’s out of your comfort zone. When you learn that the restaurant is changing its theme or that ride is closing, you’ll be so happy you are able to look back on those memories.
So long to the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and The Star Wars- Light Side Half Marathon Weekend. Welcome back RunDisney races being sold out within the first couple days of registration being open. Happy Running Friends.
