October 2019 at Walt Disney World
October is a great month to be visiting Walt Disney World. Beyond the normal experiences found at the parks there are two major additional events: Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Check out the dates of your vacation to see which events are happening during your trip and make the most of what’s available.

Epcot’s Fall festival has arrived. With special kiosks set up around World Showcase, live entertainment, seminars and workshops there’s plenty for even the most seasoned visitor to partake in. Take a look at what’s being offered this year.
Eat to the Beat Concert Series
Head to The Great American Adventure to enjoy tunes by some of your favourite bands each night. Sundays through Thursdays bands perform at 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 8:0pm. Fridays and Saturdays performances are at 6:30pm, 7:45pm and 9:00pm. Check out who will be playing during your stay.

Every day there will be tunes to dance to in Future World, with occasion appearances from different Disney stars. And I don’t mean characters I mean starts from your favourite Disney channel shows and films.
Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt
Remy (the rat from Ratatouille) has hidden ingredients at around World Showcase and he needs you to find them. Grab you map at Festival merch locations, collect stickers at each ingredient you find to earn yourself a surprise. A great way to add an interactive element to World Showcase.
Candy Sushi
Make your own Candy Sushi. Every day at 3:30pm or 5:30pm your child can learn how to make Candy Sushi at Sunshine Seasons, found in The Land. The cost is only $10 a person and kids 7 and up don’t require an adult.
Family Play Zone
A special playground is created for the festival. A place where younger ones can play until their hearts content while their parents enjoy some of the delicious food and drinks they’ve found.
Food & Beverage Pairings at Festival Welcome Centre
One of the most reasonably priced events during the festival are these food & beverage pairings. For only $25 per guest you can learn the best ways to pair food & wine. You’ll get to sample the dish prepared and the drink. This special event takes place Friday through Sunday at 2:30pm

On Fridays and Saturdays, during the Food & Wine festival, at 12:30pm, check out a live demonstration that lasts about 45 minutes. For only $19, guests get to watch a chef create a delicious dish while the chef passes on tips. Guest may even get a sample after the demonstration.
Sunday Brunch with the Chef
Each Sunday morning during the festival, guests can enjoy a wonderful buffet style brunch while getting tips and tricks from a celebrity chef. The cost is $139 dollars, the event lasts two hours, and the meal includes wine. The event runs from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Here are the chefs during your vacation:

Mondays through Thursdays at noon, guests can pay $45 to learn from culinary wizards about a multitude of culinary specialties. Sometimes you may learn how to mix a delicious drink and other times you could learn how to make a delightful dessert.
Beverage Seminars
Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, come learn from the best about wine, beer and other spirits. In these 45 minutes you’ll be taught by industry experts on the different notable parts of wine, beer or whatever drink they’re focusing on.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Back for another year, join Mickey and some of your favourite villains for a special Halloween Party. Guests will get to go treat or treating throughout the many lands of the Magic Kingdom, meet and greet their favourite Disney characters many dressed in special Halloween costumes and watch a whole new fireworks display. The cost for this event ranges from $75 to $85 depending on the date you choose and the age of the guest. The nights of the Halloween Party, Magic Kingdom closes early to other guests. With a ticket you can enter the park a few hours before the party’s official start. As soon as the party starts, other guests must leave the park. So if you’re not attending the party be sure to pick your Magic Kingdom day for another day during your vacation.

Disney After Hours at Animal Kingdom

From 9:00pm until midnight, guests who purchased these Disney After Hours tickets have exclusive access to the Animal Kingdom theme park. With the attractions at Pandora open, Everest and DINOSAUR, there is plenty to do during the three hour open time. Throughout your time at Animal Kingdom you’ll have all you care to enjoy ice cream, popcorn, and fountain beverages. There will also be a special showing of Rivers of Light and the Tree of Life Awakenings will also be on display. The event costs $125 per guest ahead of time or $95 for DVC members and annual pass holders. Guests can actually gain access to the park at 7:00pm, giving you two more hours of play time in this theme park.

This open event is for kids ages 11-adult. Compete in the 5k or the 8k. Athletes come from middle schools, high schools and colleges. Registration starts at $100.

Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon
Disney Vacation Club members will have the run of Typhoon Lagoon on October 16th. The water park will open from 6:30pm until 9:30pm for DVC members with complimentary tickets. The event will feature a DJ dance party, meet and greet with Disney characters and there will be complimentary snacks.

ATA Songahm Fall Nationals
This event is invitational, with all age groups participating. This fall national event takes over ESPN Wide World of Sports on this particular weekend. Grab transportation from Caribbean Beach or any of the All-Star resorts to watch some of the competition.

This female fast pitch showcase has teams visiting from all over the country to play in front of 200 college coaches. The age groups are 14U, 16U and 18U.

This high level competition event happens at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. All ages will be competing as well as all kinds of disciplines.

Disney Vacation Club Halloween Members Party at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney Vacation Club members will be heading to the Contemporary resort to celebrate Halloween on the night of the 31st at one of two parties. One is at 3pm and one is at 7pm. There will be special character experiences, a DJ playing music, Halloween treats and drinks. The event is only $37 per person.
