Non-Park Days at Disney World: Check out a Race Expo
If you’re a runner, walker, hiker or have kids that fall under the athletic category, check to see if there is a race weekend going on during your next Disney vacation. If there is, plan to go and check out the Race Expo on one of your Non-Park days. Taking place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, this event has companies from all over display and sell their products. From nutrition to apparel, remedies to sneakers. Many booths sell one of a kind merchandise giving you an opportunity to purchase unique items without worrying about the shipping. You can also find some amazing deals. Booths will have reduced prices for the expo. There are also booths representing different race series’ from across the states and you might see some runDisney medals on display.
At the expo there’s also a speaker series. There are olympians, motivational speakers and trainers. If you’re looking to get motivated to get into running or want more information on how to train properly, sit down and listen to some of these speakers. And all of this friends is FREE!! There is no cost to going to a race expo. Transportation is also readily available. During race weekend there is transportation from every resort to the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The race expo takes place inside, so it’s ideal for a rainy afternoon.
Races take place at the following times of year:
First weekend of January
Last weekend of February
Third weekend of April
First weekend of November
The expos are opened Thursday through to Saturday for a variety of hours, with the exception of marathon weekend which has an expo on Wednesday as well. For exact times you can check on runDisney’s website or with the front desk of your resort. Even if the race expo doesn’t interest you, use the transportation to bring you to the ESPN Wide World of Sports so you can take a look around at the venue. Both are a great use of a day.
