Characters at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Meeting characters at Walt Disney World can be a magical part of your vacation. Bringing the magic to life, seeing characters that are beloved in your heart and the hearts of your children. Animal Kingdom is a great place to meet some characters, including some characters that you can’t meet at any of the other three theme parks.
Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse
Meet Mickey and Minnie together at this characters spot in the Discovery Island of Animal Kingdom. Discovery Island is the first area of the park and you’ll find this meet and greet spot to the east of the Tree of Life, before crossing the bridge to go to Asia. This spot is fantastic because it’s inside. There is a FastPass available for this character location. This meet and greet is open from park open until 7:30pm.
This character experience is off the beaten path. You have to know what you’re looking for to find this spot. Just as you are heading to DinoLand U.S.A. from Discovery Island you’ll see a path before the bridge on your right. This is the path to meet Pocahontas. She is only here for parts of the day and when you line up you can’t guarantee you’ll meet her right then. She takes many breaks so you may progress through the line just to get to the front and her take a break. So plan for this to take a half hour of your day.
Russell & Doug
At the base of the Tree of Life, just a little bit to the right, guests can sign up for Wilderness Explorers. If you time it right you’ll be able to meet Russell & Doug when you’re signing up. These two characters from Up! are found here between 9am-12:30pm and 1:40pm-5:30pm.
Hakuna Matata Dance Party
Hakuna Matata Dance Party happens every afternoon at the Animal Kingdom. During this dance party guests are encouraged to dance along and play some games. There will be musicians playing live music and some of your favourite characters: Timon, Rafiki, Koda, Meeko, Baloo, and Terk from Tarzan. Check your daily park schedule for the party times during your park day.
If you keep your eyes peeled you may just see a HUGE exotic bird walking around Discovery Island. Kevin, from Up!, walks throughout Discovery Island during the day. Stop to look at different guests and interacting in memorable ways. Kevin can’t give out autographs but you can certainly snap a cool picture of this colourful character.
Here is where you’ll meet some familiar characters and some characters from DuckTales. The character spots are found all around DinoLand U.S.A. and each of the characters are dressed in some whacky costumes. A great place to kill some time with young kids while older kids and adults ride some attractions for taller guests. Here are the characters you’ll find at this character location:
Enjoy a meal at this buffet-style restaurant and you’ll meet four characters. Mickey, Goofy, Daisy and Donald, travel from table to table to give autographs and take pictures with diners. The cuisine here is African inspired, but don’t worry there are a few American staples for those with less adventurous palettes. Tusker House in front of the Festival of the Lion King stage show. It’s open for every meal of the day, opening at 8am until 8:30pm. Grab a reservation for 8am and get into the park before it even opens!
Baloo and King Louie
These two Jungle Book characters are found in the Asia area of Animal Kingdom. The passage in Asia between the bridge Yak & Yeti restaurant and Harambe market is where you’ll find these two characters. Their character spot is on the waterside of this road. You can normally find them here around noontime and throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Take a train to this conservation area of the Animal Kingdom. Here you won’t just be able to learn about the environment, see Vets at work and pet animals, you’ll be able to meet two characters. They make appearances around noon time until late afternoon. Rafiki’s Planet Watch closes around 5pm so be sure to plan your visit here accordingly. These are the two characters you can meet at this area of the Animal Kingdom:
27 characters to meet at the Animal Kingdom. That’s a lot of pages of your autograph book. Double check your times guide when you arrive at the Animal Kingdom to confirm the time of day your favourites are meeting guests.
