A Detailed Look at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Main Entrance
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of Disney World’s four theme parks. It’s home to 8 areas: The Oasis, Discovery Island, DinoLand U.S.A., Asia, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Pandora- The World of Avatar and the Main Entrance. Each area of each theme park is different. They all have their own shops, attractions and dining experiences. We take a look at each of these areas individually to give you a good picture of what each area has to offer. Today we’re finishing up Disney’s Animal Kingdom by going into detail on the Main Entrance. This area is outside of the park entry and may get walked by by many but for those who stop they may find something worth their time.
The Outpost Shop
Found on the western side of the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Don’t skip over this shop as it has some great offerings for your day at Animal Kingdom and great souvenirs. There’s a solid selection of Minnie Ears, Hats, Crocs, Backpacks, Umbrellas. This is a great place to stop if you realize you’ve left something back at your room or your child is too hot in their sneakers and need a pair of Crocs. You’ll also find a set of the yearly collection, items with the current year on them to mark your trip. You’ll find this shop open from park open to park close.
The Outpost Cart
The Outpost Cart is a smaller kiosk style shop on the eastern side of the entrance to the park. Here you’ll find water, fans, spray fans, and plush toys. Certain not as impressive as the shop you find across the pathway.
Rainforest Cafe Shop
At the entrance to the Rainforest Cafe is their gift shop. They sell a mixed variety of apparel, stuffed animals and musical instruments. They also have some toys for sale. This is really just a place to kill time if you’re waiting for your reservation but I’m sure plenty of people end up making some purchases while hanging around for their table. But I wouldn’t say it’s a destination shop.
Rainforest Cafe is the same as you would find elsewhere in the world. This is the Animal Kingdom location. The same menu you will find at any Rainforest Cafe will be found here. They has a great selection of food that appeals to everyone in your party: burgers and fries, fish and chips, chicken, steak, pasta. Their menu is so large, it’s a good idea to glance at it before you arrive. This is a great choice for dining at Disney’s Animal Kingdom because the food is very familiar. Many of the restaurants found at Animal Kingdom are heavily influence by African and Asian flavours which may not interest a party traveling with children. A reason we love to eat here during a visit to Disney World’s Animal Kingdom is the decor. The restaurant is filled with faux animals that come alive during your meal. This adds much distraction to the youngsters in your party.
That sums it up. For more information on planning a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, take a look at these previous posts:
