48 inches at Animal Kingdom
This height requirement series has been at work for a long time here at Chasing Walt. Each month I’ve written about a group of attractions that guests of a certain height are allowed to ride. And now we’ve finally reached the tallest height. 48 inches at the Animal Kingdom.
Guests who are 48 inches can of course ride all other attractions found at the Animal Kingdom, as well as take in the fabulous stage shows found in Africa and in DinoLand U.S.A.. The ride that requires guests to be this tall is the Primeval Whirl, also found in DinoLand U.S.A.. This is my favourite ride in all of Walt Disney World, and unfortunately it only runs seasonally. Here’s everything you want to know about this thrilling ride.
The area of DinoLand U.S.A. that the Primeval Whirl is found in, mimics a town fair. On the ground you can see it’s made to look like a road. There’s fair games to play, fair food to consume, and this awesome roller coaster to ride. The cart goes up and down, backwards and forwards, and spins. This ride is not for the faint at heart. It will toss you around like no other ride found at Walt Disney World. Think of the Twilt-Twirl on a roller coaster. Guests are seated in bench style seating, harnessed as a group. So you may smoosh into the person beside you, I’d suggest putting your youngest traveller in the middle to avoid bruising. This coaster is outside and is pretty short. FastPass+ is available but not totally necessary. Just be wary of the hours because DinoLand U.S.A. tends to close before other areas of the park. I think one of the reasons I love this ride is because I didn’t know it existed for years. We stumbled upon it during our honeymoon and I was so thrilled to discover something new to me. Now it’s a must on each of our vacations.
