With all the rides and attractions at Walt Disney World, it’s important to remember that many of these rides have height restrictions. A height that riders must be to ride the attraction. This is, of course for the safety of the guest. Over the last number of years we’ve seen the addition of a new category of height: 35 inches. 35 inches is approximately a child 2 to 3 years of age. Which friends, this is still in the free admission category!!! There is one such ride at the Magic Kingdom that falls into this category. It’s The Barnstormer.
The Barnstormer is found in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. This is a small roller coaster, but don’t be deceived. It is quick, with a big climb, a big drop and fast turns. It is short so the ride will be over before your child has a chance to not enjoy themselves. It’s the perfect introduction to roller coasters. Because the ride is so short, the line moves very quickly. So I’d forgo doing a FastPass+ for this attraction. The cart of the roller coaster can hold 2 adults, 2 adults and 1 child or 1 adult and 1 child. There is a bar that goes over top of your knees. One of the things I really like about this ride is you do not smoosh the guest beside you. So the twists are not as intense as what you’d find on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Now even if you are not travelling with young kids, give this ride a try. We rode it on our honeymoon and were so surprised with how fun it was. Also by riding before bringing your kids you’ll know what they are going to experience before they do. Which will help you gage whether it’s appropriate for them. Make it a part of an every ride challenge on an adults only Disney vacation.
The Barnstormer is the one ride at the Magic Kingdom that is for guests 35” and taller, but these guests can also enjoy the 28 attractions that have no height requirement. Take a look at this previous post to find which attractions make up the 28.
Happy Planning, Friends.
