Dining at Disney

Step by Step Disney Dining Reservations

Dining during your Walt Disney World vacation is necessary. When you’re spending the whole day at the park you need to take time to stay nourished. There are many choices for dining. You can eat at the many quick-service restaurants found on site, grab a meal from the festival kiosks found at Epcot, take time to sit down and eat a meal at a table service restaurant, or indulge in one of the buffet restaurants. Many Disney World restaurants take reservations months in advanced. Guests can start booking their reservations as far out as 180 days before their vacation. Reservations this far in advanced isn’t necessary for all restaurants, but it’s certainly necessary for these 9.

Today’s post is going to give you the Step by Step instructions on how to make these Disney Dining Reservations.

Step 1. Pick your restaurants.

Take a look at all the restaurants available. The restaurants where you’re staying and the parks you’re going to. For tips on how to pick your restaurants check out this previous post.

Step 2. Pick your dates.

Figure out which meal of the day you’d like to dine at each of your selected restaurants and on what day. Try to pick park restaurants on the days you’re visiting parks and resort restaurants on your non-park days. Double check the hours of the restaurants because not all restaurants serve every meal.

Step 3. Log in to My Disney Experience.

The day you can book your dining reservations, or if it’s after that date, as soon as you’re ready to make your reservation, log in to my disney experience. You can do this through the MyDisneyExperience or on your desktop. You need to have a MyDisneyExperience account to be able to book dining reservations online. Otherwise you can call (407) 939-3463 and they’ll be able to make the reservations for you.

Step 4. Click Reserve Dining

On the main screen of the MyDisneyExperience app is a + icon. When you select this you’ll have a multitude of options, one of which is reserve dining. Select this and the next window you’ll be brought to is selecting your party size and your date.

Once you’ve selected these two things you can either choose between your meal choice: breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or you can select the specific time. Which I would highly recommend because the time they automatically select may not be what you’re looking for.

Whatever restaurants are available at the time you’re looking for and around that time will appear. If you know the location you’re looking for then help narrow down the search by selecting the area it’s located in. Click the icon on the right and choose the park, or resort you’re looking for.

Step 5. Click Your Reservation

When you see the time you want simply click the time. At which point you’ll need to secure your reservation with a credit card. Don’t worry this will not be charged. This is used as a contingency for if you don’t show. In which case you’ll be charged a fee. Once you’ve completed these steps you’re final page will have a confirmation number. You can write all these numbers in your Disney Reservation in case they don’t show up on your MyDisneyExperience app and you need to input them manually. You should also receive a confirmation email.

That’s all. After you do it once, the rest of your reservations will feel much easier to do. My rule of thumb is to make lots of reservations. You can always cancel reservations you don’t need. You have up until 24 hours before your dining time to cancel without a penalty. It’s easier to cancel a reservation last minute than get a reservation last minute.
