In the last few years, new attractions have been consistently opening at Walt Disney World. In 2019 it was Rise of the Resistance, Smuggler’s Run and Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Hollywood Studios. In 2018 it was Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios. In 2017 it was Flights of Passage and Na’Vi River Journey at Animal Kingdom. These are huge changes in these theme parks and we know there is more to come. This year alone we see 5 new attractions being added to Hollywood Studios and to Epcot. Let’s take a look at what’s on the roster.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Taking over the Chinese Theatre is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The Chinese Theatre is located at the heart of Hollywood Studios, at the very end of Hollywood Blvd. The ride is scheduled to open in March. The attraction will feature Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto. Guests of every age and height will be able to ride. It will be one of two “rides” that the whole family will actually be able to go on together in Hollywood Studios. The other is Toy Story Mania!
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along Film
This attraction is said to be open now, but when we were there a week and a half ago, the doors were not yet open. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along Film is found at the very back of the France pavilion. As a rule of thumb, World Showcase doesn’t open until 11am and this will be true of this attraction. The first showing will be at 11am. This film will be just that, it won’t feature any live performers. Guests will be able to sing along to their favourite songs from the beloved films. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
A new proper ride to come to Epcot! Cheers all around! This ride will put guests in a rat vehicle that will scurry around the kitchen of the famous Gusteau restaurant. Currently the ride is said to be opening this coming summer. I would expect to see them push this date back, as they did with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360
Stand in a 360 theatre and learn about the land of the North. The theatre is the same but the film has changed. The film is now narrated by Catherine O’Hara (Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas) and Eugene Levy (Charlie from Finding Dory). You can find this film at the back of the Canadian pavilion, you have to climb up to the Chateau Frontenac to find the entrance. This film opened on January 17th of this year.
This 10 minute film is located in The Land pavilion in Epcot. During the course of the film you’ll see beautiful images from around the globe. You’ll be challenged to do your part in conserve this world we live in by doing small and big things. Awesome Planet opened in the middle of January and runs throughout the whole day from park open until park close. You can find Awesome Planet on the second level of The Land pavilion.
