My 5 Favourite Breakfasts at Disney World
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. So much so that we have breakfast for supper at least one day a week. This is why dining out for breakfast at Walt Disney World is one of my favourite things to do on a Disney vacation. It’s a great start to our day. We get our bellies filled with delicious food, giving our bodies the energy they need for a day full of fun at one of the parks or hopping from resort pool to resort pool. Sometimes you can even get into the parks early with breakfast reservations, stepping into the parks an hour before other guests. For more on that click here.
Today we’re looking at my top 5 breakfast meals at Disney World. These are meals that I still dream about to this day. Meals that I can’t wait to go back and enjoy again. Take a look at which meals made the list.
5. Elephant Ear Pastry at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery
This is a snack style breakfast pastry that can be found at the Animal Kingdom. This delicious pastry is huge! But I wasn’t willing to share mine. Which I would encourage you to do, especially if you’re using this as your breakfast. The pastry is dipped in chocolate, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Paired with a Joffrey’s Cold Brew, the elephant ear pastry made for the perfect snack style breakfast. Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery is found in Africa, on the left hand side as you approach the Kilimajaro Safari. Many guests choose to stop at the Animal Kingdom Starbucks location found just before here, making Kusafiri a quieter location, with shorter lines.
4. Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast at Cinderella’s Royal Table
Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the most sought after restaurants at Walt Disney World. It’s the restaurant found inside Cinderella’s castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This exquisite restaurant is beautiful in decor and design. The magical restaurant has incredible service and incredible food. This is a signature dining experience. The breakfast meal that I love here is Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast. I don’t know how they do it, but they make the french toast the perfect cross between crispy and soft. The meal is flavourful, creating a meal that I won’t soon forget. The fact that the meal starts with breakfast appetizers also helps place this meal on my list of top 5.
3. Swimmers Delight at Trattoria al Forno
Trattoria al Forno is one of my favourite restaurants at Walt Disney World regardless of the meal time. They are open for breakfast until noon and then open for dinner. For breakfast there’s a Little Mermaid and Tangled theme because these are the characters that are involved in this character breakfast. The breakfast appetizers come in a frying pans and one of the pastries is shaped like the sun symbol from Tangled. Not a stone is unturned at this breakfast. The swimmer’s delight breakfast that places this restaurant on the list is an egg white omelette with goat cheese, spinach and salmon. I’m not normally one for an egg white omelette, but thought this one suited in accentuating the tastes of the spinach and the goat cheese.
2. Crab Cake Eggs Benedict at Olivia’s Cafe
Olivia’s Cafe is a simple table service restaurant located at Disney’s Old Key West resort. Old Key West is the original Disney Vacation Club resort. The entrance to this restaurant has its walls adorned with pictures of original DVC families. It’s got a real homey feel. With bright colours making you feel like you’re having a meal in the Florida Keys. What places this meal on this top 5 list are the breakfast potatoes that came with my eggs benedict. These potatoes were like a warm potato salad. Something I would have never though of, but at this summery location and paired with the eggs hollandaise sauce, it was perfect accompaniment. The only thing that would have made this meal better was if I could have enjoy one of the many breakfast cocktails on the menu. I was 5 months pregnant when we visited Olivia’s for breakfast. So Jeff was able to double fist while I sipped iced water.
- Lobster Eggs Benedict at Grand Floridian Cafe
Grand Floridian Cafe is found on the main floor of the Grand Floridian. The restaurant is lined with beautiful windows that overlook the Deluxe resorts grounds. The restaurant is bright and inviting. Having a meal here is a great and inexpensive way to enjoy this luxurious resort without breaking the bank. At this point you may be seeing a bit of a theme in my preferences for food. The lobster eggs benedict on the breakfast menu here is unlike anything I’ve ever had elsewhere. The lobster meat used in this dish is delicious and flavourful without overpowering the whole plate.
You’ll notice I don’t have any buffet restaurants on my list. Buffet restaurants are very common and easy choices for breakfast at Disney World but I find them to be very similar. They all offer breakfast meats, mickey waffles, fruit, yogurt. You’ll get one or two items that you can’t find elsewhere on property but you won’t find those hand crafted meals that are to be enjoyed by an individual guest. The food offered at buffet restaurants are made to feed the hundreds of guests that go through the doors each morning. So there’s no way they can offer the same flavour and freshness that goes into individually made dishes.
Next time you’re heading to Walt Disney World add one of these restaurants to your list to check out for breakfast. You won’t regret it.
