At our present stage of life, visiting the parks each and every day of our vacation is not doable. With 3 small children, spending every moment of our trip at a park would be exhausting for everyone. Which is why we have come to love our non-park days.
Non-park days are days we don’t spend at the four Disney World theme parks. These days can be spent by the pool, shopping at Disney Springs, dining at resort restaurants, check out a runDisney expo. Each trip we learn more and more things we can fill our days with outside of the parks. One of my favourites from our last family vacation was the Campfire Sing-a-Long with Chip’n’Dale at Fort Wilderness. For a full list of ideas for your vacation’s non-park days check out this previous post.
One thing you can spend time doing on a non-park day is search for Hidden Mickey’s. All around Walt Disney World resort are things shaped like Mickey hidden in obvious and non-obvious places. These are found within the theme parks but also at the resorts, water parks and Disney Springs.
If you’re looking at your resort, check in with the cast members at the front desk and they’ll be able to steer you in the right direction of a number of hidden mickey’s. Or pick up the Hidden Mickey book. You can buy this before your vacation on Amazon or in your local bookstore but it’s also sold in your resort’s gift shop. This book is also incredibly handy for keeping everyone occupied while waiting in line for rides during your park days.
One of the fun things about finding Hidden Mickey’s is once you see one, you can’t unsee it. The rest of your vacation you’ll notice it. Another thing you’ll find is other guests wanting to get in on the fun. If you and yours are on the hunt for these hidden gems, other guests may help you locate one they’ve already found. This can be done rain or shine because they’re found everywhere. Inside and outside. They can be found in pictures, in the carpet, on the ceiling, on the furnishings. Don’t leave any stone unturned.
We’ve always had such fun doing this during our vacations. And clearly we are not alone. With hundreds of pins on Pinterest, the #hiddenmickey, guests are on the hunt. So join in on the eye spy game. Happy Planning, Friends.
